no particular order:

Bocca Barranca 1997 (see best wave thread)

Christmas Eve at Reef Road about 5yrs ago (chest to shoulder clean with 5 people out, guy let us park in his driveway, and the waitress forgot to charge us for a breakfast afterwards).

Delray about 10 years ago, winter NE swell head high and perfect. As it got dark the lineup cleared out except for 3 of us (don't know the other dudes) and with no moon we surfed another 3hrs in the blackness only feeling the pull of the approaching set and seeing the feathering lip in the dark. Once you made the drop the street lights reflected on the wave face. Total wave fest each of us would catch the set waves 1-2-3 behind each other and paddle back out together. Dead calm between sets spaced about 10 min apart. It was flawless from the outside to the beach and we just kept on and on until we got cold. I was in the water for 5 hours straight, got home around 10:30PM. Was just too good to stop.

In no order...

1. Maui - "1000 peaks" area. Head high and howling offshores and sunshine. The waves were held up a bit by the winds but man was it gorgeous with mountains all around and clear blue water. Rented a longboard in Lahaina and just pulled over to the side of the road and surfed with 5 other guys. So powerful. AFter surfing for an hour, one guy asked if I was a local. Nice compliment that still has me grinning. Surfing with turtles in Hookipa was fun too, but the waves were too small.

2. New Zealand. Lyall Bay near WEllington. Chest high, sunny with offshores again. Only one other guy out. AGain, lots of power and an awesome mountain backdrop and on a rental longboard.

3. Florida - I've got to lump some hurricane days together and I don't feel like getting up to look in my journal. There have probably been at least 4 perfect days of head high glass - all between Jax and Flagler. One at Crossroads where the lines and the shorepound stick out - rode a 7'6. Another in Flagler during Fabian - snapped my 8'10 right in 1/2 on a wicked closeout - FIRST WAVE OF THE DAY. RAn over to Surf Station and rented a 7'4 and kept surfing, but this time at Matanzas. Head high and fun as he**. I was probably in the best shape of my life for good surf at this time so I was a paddling fool.

Better the board, than the clam. I just barely escaped the beast jumping out backside like when you do a pole vault. KAPLOW! went the board. I got a little bloody just from the sharp laminates getting stripped off. :( I liked that board.
