View Full Version : what beach do you normally surf?
i live in the psl/jensen bch area... so ft pierce now and the stuart rocks during the winter (NE swell is amazing there... but from any other direction, it sucks). i really like ft pierce and the vibe is really good- it can get sooo packed there. i notice my taking photos to surfing time ratio has been heavily skewed towards surfing. but i still dig the "first thing in the morning, surfing" shot from ft pierce. anyhoo... just curious where everyone is.

Jax Beach 13th Avenue - 16th Avenue south. Thanks to the new construction down there, parking is hard to come by.
Poles @ hanna park.

MOF not sure how long you've been in Jax but don't you hate the no parking anymore. I miss the days you could pull up in front of any beach and normally find good parking minus 7th south at the old pier. I remeber when Jax beach use to break half way good. It's sucked for the last 7-8 years.

I'm all over the damn place but mostly between Dania (sucks but close to home) and North Jetty (although I haven't been there in a while).

Depends on amount of time and swell
Flagpole, Clark, Reef Road, Kite Beach
i had a job meeting in ft lauderdale last winter- yankee trader or something like that (the hotel i stayed at); the surf was great, but it was shortly after wilma- which tore the crap out of the beach. good atmosphere there, as well! i haven't gone south of stuart inlet yet (i.e. jupiter, boynton, etc.)... i have surfed new smyrna- fun; daytona bch really surprised me by not allowing fiberglass except in a very small section (i can binge drink and fall off a balcony, but no fiberglass surf!!)
i grew up in ft myers- so the surf here still amazes me sometimes!

I surf where the waves are generally :)
But I'm a Delray local. It really does depend on where it's good, that's where you'll see me.

I've been surfing since I was 14/15. When I could drive I could find parking with no problem. I recently started surfing regularly after a few years hiatus due to college and the parking SUUUUCKs. I hate what all the condos have done, but it's my business so it's bitter sweet. 2Fresh nearly flipped out one day because he and I spent 20 minutes finding parking.. it's like UNF parking all over again.

no, never did... i remember that the last causeway right before captiva was the greatest to jump off because the current would carry you quick to the beach. we are talking like 10-15 years ago... before charley made captiva a small(ER) series of islands. it is beautiful over there... jensen beach feels like ft myers did when i was a kid... about as "small town" as you can get anywhere near the ocean in fla.

For me it depends how much time I have and what he swell looks like. I usuallt hit spots between Deerfield Beach and Jensen Beach. For a quick trip, its Lantana

Lanatana has it's moments. It use to be a secret spot days back. Breaks well on a rebound. My home spot is Tresspass in Deerfield (love that wave), LW Pier and Palm Beach (Flagpole).

I've tried LW Pier a couple of times, liked the wave, hated the locals. Was there with my daughter on a small day, tried to stay off to the side, but this one jerk kept following us, trying to start something. Haven't been back since.
how about sebastian? i hear about it all the time; but rarely talk to someone that has surfed there... is it like the stuart rocks (where you have to have the right swell and direction?). is it worth the drive considering ft pierce's consistency and the outrageous gas prices? just curious. thanks for all the replies...

yeee great waves in sebastian, you will not be able to surf 1st break but there are many many break a little bit north....it's much better than Ft pierce on the lower tide , and worth the extra drive if it's offshore and 5feet and ++
However if windchop, stay at ft pierce

The inlet is working as well as it used too, and of course it's ALWAYS crowded. I'll take a number of other breaks over it.
It gets its big allure from the wedge peak that bounces off the jetty on a NE swell making a nice fat shack.
