Two sub categories: biggest ever and biggest in Florida
Rules:
1. Successful drop and not falling off at least for the initial part of the ride. So the monster set closeout wave will count 'cuz you had the cojones to go for it.
2. It's okay say if you made the drop cranked the turn and then the lip smacked you upside the head after the inital section, but if you lost it on the drop, free fell, supn out at the bottom etc, you can list it but say attempted not ridden.
3. WInner gets five minutes with Jaco's wiffle ball bat and a Surf XTC sticker.

Biggest ever for me: 2x head in Costa at an unamed beach near Parrita. Ridden to completion on the inside, BIG fast wall...
Biggest FL: Palm Beach Area, hurricane swell probably 10-11' on the face, fast and lined up. Craziest vertical re-entry after a backside lip smack I ever pulled off (thought for sure my re-entry was too steep and I would eat it but I made it to the cheers of the guys out on the shoulder....I went straight up top and just got hung up there as the lip started to jack and was thinking uh-oh) also ridden to completion.
Biggest wave seen while in the water: 3x Hermosa super set that mowed me down like squirrel under a steam roller (snapped leash and 30 min swim ensued)

Biggest made, that nasty Bomber in Costa, maybe 8 - 10 that launched me about 10 feet in the air.
Biggest wipeout, Dominical... first paddle out in the morning. Seacliff and I got cleaned up by an overhead and smashed against the bottom while our friends watched and laughed... right Sprocket...
And You guys got cleaned up pretty good by that big arse set at the unnamed spot when I scratched over it.

Hard to say... so many good waves.
the cold fronts made some very impressive waves @ the rocks (stuart) this past winter (my first yr here seeing the surf); it took me a long time to even paddle out there. ft. pierce, on the other hand, is my perfect spot... i think maybe once in the past three or four mths i have gone out there and there is no waves whatsoever- but usually they are really, really fun and somewhat less potentially fatal than the rocks.
to answer the question, though... that last strong NE'er up by Virginia that threw some truly impressive swells this way. i went to jensen bch for that (i knew there was mostly sand there). i caught one or two. i truly learned to respect the ocean that day. and it was one of those washing machine days... i learned about drifting then, as well; by the time i got to the waves, i was an 1/8th of a mile from where i started.
i have kept a decent photo journal on my myspace page in the blog; i have been fortunate enough to catch people getting way crazier out there than i am capable of.

15 feet waves a La Nord (Hossegor), same day where there was the WCT final in 2004 a la Centrale (Hossegor).
in florida I believe my biggeest wave was this thursday morning during Isabelle at S4....I would guess a good 10 feet wave (look at the shrimpcreole.com), some people in florida would call these waves around 16 feet but comeon everybody know that floridian don't know how to size a wave.

Wish I had more to offer this thread. I'm going to say 7 foot (by Florida, not Hawaii standards) somewhere in Florida. I've been on the outside for a lot of big swells all by myself and have dropped into plenty of freight trains. Those are the kind of days I question my sanity. It's lonely out there...

yeah but it beats 200 people dropping in aka Delray, Reefroad, etc.

well, haven't had a super bombing day here in florida, but the biggest in florida i'd say probably 6-8 ft(12-16ft faces) in a local area. but back home in so.ca. i'd say sharks in s.b. 12+, todos 12+knarly, home breaks tc's and spunks maybe just maybe 12-14. a handful and those were my max days. pics, maybe if i can dig them up. and i'm not talking about surfline reports of waves sizes if ya get my drift.

Coral reefs in PR chest high
I remember looking down, seeing all of the urchins, and thinking... "that may hurt."

Triple overhead Carmeonal, CR. I was undergunned but wasn't going to sit on the beach in the infamous butt hutt and watch. Only 2 guys out until my buddy, Correa, and I paddled out. First wave was more of a survival wave
as I just dropped in and went down the line. THen got brave
and sat deep. You know its BIG when your paddling out and up the face of a wave and someones coming down the line over the top of you with plenty of room to spare. Only took 2 waves b/c it was hard to get into being undergunned and taking off late was not a good idea. Unfortunately, I was a dumpass and took a right. THat put me waaaay to deep when a clean-up set came and was about to close out the whole freaking bay. I knew my limitations and paddled towards the beach b/c I wasn't going to make the paddle out before 2 stories of whitewater come rumbling at me. Never seen that place break so far out before.. Breaking all the way thru the bay. RIdiculous. Ended up trekking north to Negra where it was smaller but still cranking at solid 8-10ft.
FLorida: Halloween swell of 90 or 91. Not sure what year that was. Been cheech and chonging it too long to remember :p

Haven't posted on anything yet but couldnt resist this one...Overall probably a late season nor'easter last april in Maine. 12-15' with a 15 mph offshore wind I thought I would be blown out to sea and never seen again. Dropped into a few before I and everyone else out got destroyed by an outside set...called it a day after that...the water was 40 degrees and it was snowing, but still worth the paddle out.
In florida, I only just moved here in june so my biggest is some thy/waist wind slop in Pompano. Im looking forward to winter or atleast some tropical weather action...
