Steve Irwin died today after a stingray's barb pierced his heart while filming a documentery, anyone think he's been more or less playing Russian roulette with nature for a long time, it's a huge loss for nature enthusiasts, etc. ?

I respected the man for his contributions to marine biology, ecology, and other natural sciences... what luck. I'm sure his family is taken care of and that's what really matters... those who are still here.

Did you know that ALL the proceeds they (the Irwins) made on the TV shows, movies, merchandising all got spent on conservation efforts. They only kept their salaries from the zoo they were in charge of.

Yeah, it pretty much sucks. The guy jumps on the backs of 15 foot crocs,and he dies from a f@#king stingray. Best of luck to his family and loved ones.:(

While still filming Irwin was seen removing the barb from his heart before his spirit left his body to return to the thing he loved the most after his family....the natural world.

Calculated risk yes but the odds well........RIP
