Here's the link to the latest article about our fight to avoid having our beach and reefs buried in mud, for no reason:

Please forward the link to those who want to keep our beautiful golden native sand beach at Lake Worth. Our beach at Lake Worth is the same size it has been for 40 years. I know, and so does the Mayor and the county. But if the town of Palm Beach and the Corps have their way, Lake Worth's beach will be buried in a huge pile of grey mud. The city of Lake Worth commissioners are all against the dredge and fill of their beachfront, but Lake Worth has no final say in the matter. In fact, due to an agreement signed many decades ago, the town of Palm Beach has jurisdiction over Lake Worth's beach east of the dune. That will allow them to dredge and fill our beach just because they feel like it.

Right now the Corps' office in Palm Beach County is waiting for the results of an update to the hardbottom measurements to see how many acres of our snorkeling reef will be killed in the process.
(All of it will be killed). Either way, the dredge and fill project at "Reach 8" (which includes Lake Worth's beach) is still in the works.

Oh, and we will be saying goodbye to our surfing at Lake Worth if the project happens. We expect the project will create one big closeout, just as these projects have at many other prime surfing areas.

Please read the story, then let the town of Palm Beach and the Army Corps of Engineers know how you feel. Every voice is important. We are optimistic that the Corps change it's mind and not sign the permit for the town of Palm Beach. Give them one more reason with a call or a letter. Good quality sand is available inland to help the beaches that need it in South Palm Beach and Lantana, but the damage from a dredge and fill project at Lake Worth cannot be allowed.

WOrse part of it is that the town of PB actually controls the beach east of the dune line due to some document signed a long time ago, so although Lake Worth doesn't want it, it's not their decision!
