so i got a knock-off mp3 player to replace the one that took the salt-water bath; it's not the pinnacle of memory, so i am having to be a little decisive on what makes it on there and what doesn't.
so, that is pretty much the question... what album, song, etc. of yrs would make it.
for me it is the bands Pavement (specifically crooked rain, crooked rain) and promise ring (nothing feels good, very emergency, and wood/water).
pavement is just one of those albums that make me happy whenever i listen to it- and i listen to it at least three or four times a week... since the early
90's.
promise ring- i went to school in tampa and there was a really good public radio station- wmnf... i think 88.5??... at night they played everything from ska to straight-edge hardcore... and i heard a song by promise ring, but i didn't hear the name or the album... so, i went to the used cd store and got very emergency; this turned out to be the wrong album- so, i went back and got everything they had... it turned out the song was on nothing feels good and i really, really got into this album. and so it went. they were touring with bad religion and they were coming to tampa- so i got tickets and the lead singer found out he had a huge brain tumor and they cancelled the show; the coolest wife ever found out that some booking agency in chicago called flower 15 was having a promise ring/jimmy eat world show- it was last yr and a one-time deal. so we got super-cheap tickets and stayed with a friend up there... chicago freaking rocks, but i could never live there... it is just too much- of everything- but especially noise. as far as seeing promise ring- they were unreal.
jimmy eat world is a really good band- but they kind of did a U2 thing after the albums clarity and static prevails (which both absolutely made it on the mp3 player).
so, i am just curious what everyone else's story is if they were in my shoes.
