I'm going to Peru in August with a girlfriend. I've got a friend who owns a house at the beach and in the city. It will be winter there, but I have no idea about the surf and have yet to do research.

Anyone ever been? Know about the surf? My ex's family is from there, but he didn't surf (hence the ex), so I'm familiar with the culture. Anything interesting to visit, too? Thanks for the words of advice in advance.

Peru surf is to Cali surf like Cali surf is to Florida surf.

It's on par with Hawaii size wise.....Longest lefts in the world.


Didn't you pay attention to the movie at my house? It was all Peru!

I'm not sure if I'm going now, because I'm graduating college, moving to Cali, and starting a new life in the same month... sooooo... my plans will be postponed.

Yeah wTF just go for it. Send your stuff to Cali, go to Peru and your little french fry with be there with all your stuff unpacked and put away when you get back....

It was awesome back then. A real little surftown, all of them strung together, Cardiff, Encinitas, Leucadia. We used to surf the Reef a lot, I lived right on Manchester, 1949 I believe. Swami's was awesome back then and THE place to ride, though the Reef at Cardiff got more hollow. Ask around some of the older surfers of Christmas Day at the Reef in 1971!!!!! Have fun!!!!
