hmmm wll my average days of not surfing consists of going to school and checking the forums all day while in school, then going to the gym. On a good off day when the waves are ankle high or rideable at all i go to just paddle around in pompano and hope to catch a wave :-), also just swimming and such

Assuming you ask this question for leisure purposes: I love to go to the dog park with my two mutts, beach cruise, eat at outside places, and spend time with my family. I also enjoy writing.
At night, my girlfriends take me to those upper end places where late 20/ early 30 somethings act important so we can dance like whores in uncomfortable, yet stylish and expensive shoes.

I go to the mall and hang out in the food court. Sometimes I play air hockey in the arcade. Its hard to play by yourself, But I make do.

Pictures first.
i went from managing 30+ people to managing just me in the past two years.
this is honestly the first time in at least ten yrs that i can go home friday knowing that my work is done for the week- but i work a hard week and i don't slack-***...
as you have all laughed at me regarding, i am infinitely facinated in crazy weather and ufo's.
i have the greatest wife ever and a house full of animals. in my spare time, i enjoy a constant background of music... the tv is always on, but rarely with volume. i am perpetually in the middle of a steinbeck or kerouac book, too.
i definitely feel that the beach and the ocean make a certain part of me healthy and i always feel recharged when i get out there... surf or not.
finally, i have really enjoyed seeing everything start to come together... what you guys are saying (esp. sprocket's blog post), info i have found (internet surf wx, etc.), and just going to the beach over and over again and contrasting what everything/everyone is telling me vs what is before my eyes.
this has gone from a hobby to a borderline obsession- i enjoy the water more every time i go out. it is never the same and always has some form of surprise- whether blinding reef pain or a dolphin jumping fifteen feet away or a manatee scaring the crap out of me- i just enjoy it.:)

Dan's a sweetheart.
Dan's a sweetheart.
while i thank you for the comment, i have to put it into context... i am here because of the knee injury i mentioned a couple of times. i was a bitter person when i got here; not mean or anything- just unhappy; one day jen and i went to the beach (after we had bought our board, the fever) and there were just perfect lines coming in. waist high, maybe- but for not seeing much surf, i was impressed. we were so mad at ourselves that we did not have the board:mad:
now it is in my truck from friday until late sunday... just in case. we have so much family here, finding friends hasn't been a big concern- there just isn't much time. but i sent some pics to geoff- probably like two yrs ago now- and he was really positive about them. the myspace thing doesn't do much for me- but it is a great way to get some pics out there and some are mediocre and some make me very happy that i was there to take that picture. jen doesn't really care about the pics so much; and she is a much better surfer than i, so i have a lot of her and a few tilted, out-of-focus of me.:)
the point of that paragraph is that geoff's vibe kept me going. i probably wouldn't be on here if it wasn't for that. i would still be taking pics and surfing my butt off... just anonymously.
while i am on a role- sprocket, you seem to have a really good grasp of not just surf, but boards (types, lengths, fins, etc.), "secret spots", and what is going on out there... what's yr story? does anyone else in yr family surf? yr two suggestions have been to shut up on where the good spots are and get "waves and beaches". is there a decent book for all the aforementioned topics? shapers seem to have little time to answer basic questions... and google doesn't really talk about boards like the fever too much. my board is apparently an early 80's model (huh!) and is not the best in the world. everything i see and read is for slater-esque type boards. if anyone else knows of any books, let me know!

Dan a great resourse on east coast surf history is Sean O'Hare up in Cocoa. He runs the the Cocoa Beach Surf Museum. His Dad is Pat O'Hare (legendary FL shaper) so he has some story to share.

Board history from the '70s and '80s is vague at best.
My story? Just been surfing for a while, was raised when children said yes sir, no sir and had some friggin manners in and out of the water. My wife surfs but none of my relatives.
