You can catch some nice fish from the old skyway but a boat is where it's at. I just want to go catch some snook to eat.

went swordfishing last night on a friends boat, seas were 7ft in the gulf had way to small of a boat 22ft so we only went like 13 miles offshore, had plans to go to a spot that was like 24 miles off but it was pretty bad out there and opted for the wiser of the two and to keep land in sight.

Had three poles out all big gold pens not sure which model but set them out which large squid rigged with ballons with glowsticks and one bottom with glowsticks.

45min in we hear one of the rods going off drags set on like 45lbs to pull and it was clearing line, friend goes to set the hook and bait goes limp. might have been a sword with the line rapped on his bill. brought it in and half the squid was sliced off so deff a sword. put another line out before calling it quits cause the seas where getting rougher. but going out probly next weekend if its nicer out.

still had a good time and hoping to get one next week.

I went out of St. Auggie on a 35 footer during a north east swell when there was a low off hatty. What a nightmare. Sea's were running 7-12 with a stiff northeast wind. I think the boat spent more money on fuel then he made off of us for the whole day. Never again

yes 10-15mph top speed getting out there, it was 2-4 and building at midnight so we left early and opted for another calmer day, still fun though

45 lbs of drag??? No wonder you lost the fish. You ain't fishing for giant tunas, Swordfishing requires about 14 lbs. Sorry, your fish wasn't bill-wrapped, you pulled the hook.

I dont know if it was 45lbs but didnt rig or handle the reels anyways so cant say for sure just know it was a firm pull to make that bitch click, after reading and talking to people I learned that swords do have weak mouths and that its very easy to pull the hook, lesson learned. why dont you take me out and show me how its done then?!

Unfortunately, if you came along, you would be infringing on someone else's party. We don't do split parties,so it would be tough to pull off.
