I'm heading to Alaska in july, I think I'm going to try and catch some waves while I'm in the Homer area. Anyone else surfed super cold water before? I can hold my own all winter in Maine, but Alaska has to be a whole other story!

Im pumped though, check out the back drop, better to look at than condos and high rises in my opinion.

while I'm thinking of it, anyone know a place that sells winter wet suits down here i.e. 6-5-4 or 7mm? not much need for them here, hoping someone carries them

i salute you for yr courage... those pics are amazing on that site and i could not imagine surfing those waves with the mtns in the background. that would be so surreal.
side note- i have wanted to see the aurora my entire life... it is similar to the redwoods... they caught my attn long ago and i never forgot. anyhooo... definitely check out this site when you go:

Your best bet is Bird in Miami for a wettie. THey carry EVERYTHING. I'd call first though.

hence the hunt for a thick wettie, I have a 6-5-4 but its old and i ripped a huge hole in the leg before I moved down here. ahh well time to upgrade.

I used to surf Lake Erie in December. I had just upgraded to an O'Neill (6-5-4 I think) but moved to Florida before I could ever use it. If you are looking for a "used" but never worn wetsuit for frigid weather surfing send me a pm. Hood, gloves and booties included.
